PolyBuzz packs a lot beyond basic chat. Here's what the app actually offers, in plain terms.
20M+ character library
The core draw: millions of AI characters made by users, spanning anime, fantasy, celebrities, historical figures, and original creations. Tags and ratings help surface the good ones — with a library this size, the rating system matters more than the raw count.
Create your own characters
Anyone can build a character: name, avatar, personality, backstory, speaking style. On mobile you tap the + button; on web it's "Create Character." You choose whether to keep it private or publish it for everyone. Writers use this to test dialogue; roleplayers use it to build exactly the companion they want.
Voice conversations
Characters don't just type — they can talk with AI-generated voices, and you can listen to replies instead of reading. Membership tiers include unlimited voice listening on the chat page; free users get a taste of it.
Live Photos
This turns moments in your chat into AI-generated images of the character — their expression or state, visualized. It's one of the features that uses the coin system rather than being fully free.
Memory
PolyBuzz remembers your conversation context so characters stay consistent — but memory is technically limited and the app may "forget" older parts of long chats. Paid tiers get stronger memory models (Permanent Memory, Long Memory). For a story running weeks rather than an evening, this is the feature that decides whether it holds together.
Customization and languages
Chat themes, backgrounds, avatar frames, and character voice/appearance tweaks let you personalize the experience. The app supports 17 languages — you can switch in settings or just ask the character to reply in your language.
Private chats and sync
Chats are private unless you share them, and everything syncs across web and mobile. You can delete messages or whole chat rooms anytime.
